Geocache Description:

This cache is inspired by, and in tribute to, the His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman. All the books are connected to Oxford (or parallel Oxfords). The second book in the trilogy is The Subtle Knife and introduces a new hero to the trilogy in the shape of Will. The first chapter of this book is called The Cat and the Hornbeam Trees hence the name of this cache.

In the book 12 year old runaway, Will finds himself wandering North out of Oxford late at night. As he reaches the ring road he watches a cat acting strangely and discovers a window into a new world. The staring point of this cache is where I imagine Will discovered this window between the hornbeam trees.

The cache itself isn't far away but you will have to answer the following questions to find the actual location:

1. At the starting point - OX2 75A

2. Number 64 is how many hornbeams west of the start? The second digit will give you B.

3. How many hornbeams west do you see the number 16113? The answer will give you C.

4. How many hornbeams are to the east of the starting point? Add the digits together to get D.

If Will and Lyra managed to travel between parallel worlds on this busy road without being seen then I'm sure you will manage to retrieve the cache without being spotted. The cache is a micro with only a small log and pencil.
