Geocache Description:

This land and the cache is being protected by a watchful guardian high on the bluff. Make sure to look for her when visiting this cache. This makes this a great cache for children and family. After a several month absence, she is now back starting 12/16/2013. Hopefully this time to stay!

Local children had named the guardian on the hill "Potosa". Historically, Potosa was daughter of Meskwaki Indian chief Peosta and later became the wife of Julien Dubuque, founder of nearby Dubuque. Do you feel her spirit in this place?

You should park on the shoulder of the main road near the parking coordinates to access this cache. (It will result in the shortest, easiest walk to the cache.) Please DO NOT enter or block any farm field driveways.

The cache is a regular sized container starting with nice swag and a pencil and logbook.  Please trade fairly, sign the logbook, and return the cache as you found it to keep it a fun find for future cachers.

While visiting this cache, I suggest that you look across the way from Potosa. If you've got good eyes, you will see her husband, Julien Dubuque, on the opposite bluff. If you want to know more about him, you might want to read the description on this cache: “Shadow of the Founder”
