" Would you care for another schnitzengruben? "
"No, thank you. Fifteen is my limit on
schnitzengruben."
I’m not sure John Galardi had schnitzengruben in mind when he
first opened his first hot dog stand back in 1961. At that time it
was named “Der Wienerschnitzle” which is actually an
incorrect use of German. In German its actually two words, not one,
and would use the neutral article of “Das” rather than
the masculine article of “Der”. It later changed to
just Wienerschnitzle in 1977, but in either case it sure sounds
like this place should be selling them.
