Geocache Description:

Sahara Horse camp / Elbe Hills... Horse-back or hiking no Mountain bikes.

YOU DO NOT NEED A HORSE TO DO THIS CACHE!! you can hike it too!!!
This area is an ORV and Horse-back trail system. This cache is placed about 1.5 miles in on a tail called "Lower Elkspur". You could come at it from Upper Elkspur too. I will placed a picture of the map of the trail system here on this page, but you can get the map at the bace camp at Sahara horse camp located 5 miles on 706 out side of Elbe.
I placed the cache near a cross rode of several trails so you can come at the cache many different ways. If you plan your trip well, you could come at the cache through logging roads but you will still need to hike in. On horse back, the total ride took us 4hr., 2hr in and 2hr out to place the cache. I would double that time if you hike it. So make sure you bring snack and water for a great day of hiking through creeks valleys and many up hill switch backs. There are not very many spots to see great views, but if you like hiking and riding in forest, this is the place.
At times along the trail, you are in deep dark thick forest. At times you will not get good GPS signals. At the site of the cache, I was getting 5 sat with good signals. I posted a clue so you could find it with out waisting a trip. Your looking for a drab green ammo box with cool stuff in it.
