Geocache Description:

The cache is easily accessible by walking or biking. The furthest distance from parking is roughly 0.75 miles (as the crow flies), hence the 2nd star for terrain. Otherwise this would be a handicapped accessible cache.

DuPage County FPD WebsiteAfter lengthy negotiations with the DuPage County Forest Preserve District, this is the first approved physical cache in the DuPage County FPD. Eventually, there will be a series of 6 caches with links to each other.

The coordinates above are not for the final cache.
Since you need to follow these instructions to be able to access the cache, I didn't want anyone to just download coordinates without the extended information. Therefore, the coordinates above will only get you to the parking area of the cache.

The first three stages to this multi-cache are small metal disks with numbers on them (NOT square plates). These can all be reached by following the trails without any bushwacking involved. They are at the following coordinates:

Marker 1: N 41° 49.563 W 088° 08.630
Marker 2: N 41° 49.224 W 088° 08.323
Marker 3: N 41° 49.012 W 088° 08.757

As a historical note, Marker 3 is 345 feet from the original location of Herrick Lake Stash, the second cache I ever found.

Once you have the three numbers, head to the box's coordinates at
N 41° 49.690 W 088° 08.513
where you will find the final box locked by a combination lock requiring those three numbers. To add to the difficulty, you will have to figure out the order that the numbers appear in the lock, but don't fret - there's only 6 possibilities: ABC, ACB, BAC, BCA, CAB, CBA - and to limit the possibilities, here are two more clues:
  • The combination lock numbers are not in ascending or descending order
  • The numbers are not in the same order as you would find them (Marker 1 - Marker 2 - Marker 3) or in the reverse of that (Marker 3 - Marker 2 - Marker 1)

When opening the lock, once you've entered the correct combination, you need to push the lock together to release the mechanism, and then pull it open.

Please be sure to replace the combination lock and spin the mechanism before leaving the cache.

PLEASE NOTE: To log this as "found", you must open the container and sign the log book. If the combination doesn't work, e-mail me what you used, and I'll confirm the correct numbers.
Audio Exchange This is a theme cache!
I filled the cache with the usual log book (and a travel bug), but the rest of the contents are themed: We've all got old CDs or cassettes that we never listen to anymore cluttering up our basements and junk drawers. Here's your chance to exchange them for someone else's old music. I'm not looking for data disks with MP3s on them, but instead fully functional (pop-them-in-the-car's-CD-player) music CDs or cassettes. They can be with or without the jackets or cases. And please be considerate to not leave music with questionable lyrics - these will be removed from the cache and discarded.

I would love to hear what music you've traded in your logs as well!

REMEMBER: No "back up" copies of CDs allowed. Only store-bought versions, please.
