This cache is located on Long Island of the Holston, In Kingsport, Tennessee. Long Island is Tennessee's first National Historic Landmark. This cache is just off the normal trail system, but is still very visible to others - please be careful! Hike is easy, but cache is fairly well hidden.
To get to the cache, there are several parking options, wtih the closest parking at N36 33.012 W082 35.361. You can swim, boat or hike to the island from there - Hiking is recommended. It is only about 0.39 miles hiking to the cache spot from the parking area. If you swim, it is only about 280 feet. There are ducks and geese around, so bring some bread and feed them. The cache is regular sized, and is well hidden close to open area. Please do not beat a trail to it, try to "tread lightly", to keep it hidden. Some approaches make this easier than others. You should not have too many people in this area, but it is near a hiking trail, so try and make sure they don't see you. And please make sure you hide it back well. The hike in is easy, but the underbrush is thick. And watch for gopher holes.
The cache includes a camera - please do NOT take it. Take your picture, and put it back in the cache. We will develop the pictures and post a link from the cache page.
