Groundhog's Day Letterbox! Letterbox Hybrid

This cache has been archived.

Chris Saves: This one was actually in decent shape, took the stamp home (one of the only hand carved ones in the series, made after the custom one got thefted). Thanks everyone who found enjoyed this series!

Geocache Description:

This is the second geocache in a series of holiday themed letterboxes. It's placed not far off of the Multipurpose Trail in LaTourette Park.

Please be conscious of muggles! Do not remove the stamp it stays with the geocache, thank-you and enjoy!

Groundhog's Day seems to be slightly more special to Staten Islanders. Our little borough is home to one of the most famous weather forecasters in the country; Staten Island Chuck! Whether you believe Charles G. Hogg (superior to Punxsutawney Phil) can accurately predict six more weeks of winter (boo!!) or an early spring (sweet!) it's clear that this holiday is just a little bit more special on our island then it is elsewhere.

Chuck predicts an early spring!

Congrats to DawnAIC for FTF, Looking4Secrets for STF & dumbfounded1 for TTF!

Team Early Spring!: Chris Saves.

Team More Winter!: ukipiper, SynDaLog.

2017 Groundhog Predictions!

Staten Island Chuck: Early Spring

Punxsutawney Phil: More Winter

Balzac Billy: More Winter

Shubenacadie Sam: Early Spring

Buckeye Chuck: More Winter

General Beauregard Lee: Early Spring

Essex Ed: More Winter (last year Ed overslept and Otis the Hedgehog filled in, how embarrassing!)

Big Al the Alligator: More Winter (seriously, Texas uses a gator...)

Nominated by NYC Geocaching for Best Series and Winner for Best Hike, thanks everyone! 😅
