Geocache Description:

Many of you have had your eyes on the pile of caches in Haws Ridge Park, but keep putting off when to go after them. Here is your chance to do it as a group.

Our club hosted events are not for "members only." All geocachers are encouraged to attend. The more the merrier!

Depending on the amount of people that show up at the event, we will either do it as one group or break up into smaller groups and see who can get the best times!

One of the cool things about cache machines is that even though the cache has been found in the past, there is a certain competitiveness to be the first in your group. As with other cache machines, if you find the cache, you'll be the one who has to re-hide it. Hide it as well as you found it.
We encourage everyone to make sticker labels ahead of time with your geocache user id and the date of the event. This will greatly speed logging the caches.

This is a vigorous day of hiking in the woods. You will need to pack a lunch and lots of fluids. We will have several cases of water at the parking area for anyone who does not bring enough water.

We will probably create at least one group of those who intend to find all the caches in one day. This is over 12 miles of hiking. We will form another group for those who do not have the time or desire, or stamina to find all of them. This is a social event, so please come even if you only plan to find one or two. You can help with the water and snack table and just hang out in the shade if you don't feel up to a hike. Maybe we could have some ice cream in coolers???

The event will commence on Sat, July 17th at 10:00 AM in the main parking lot at the coordinates above. We will have a quick meeting to discuss geocaching and club-related matters before heading out. Release forms will be available for both the club stats page and adopt a highway for anybody who has not signed these yet. Then, we will possibly break up into groups and find as many caches in the park as interest or time allows. When everybody either finds all 13 caches or decides they've had enough, we'll return to the parking lot. Following the cache run, we'll probably find a restaurant and spend some time eating, socializing, discussing geocaching, or begging for hints on each other's caches.

Bring FRS radios if you’ve got them. We’ll use Channel 2 to communicate among caching groups and to say 'Howdy' to listening locals. Suggestions and ''Count me ins'' are welcome below. If you’ve already found a couple of these caches, that’s fine - give us a chance to find the cache, and then we may turn to you for a hint.
