This cache is situated somewhere between Weston Wood and the village of Weston-under-Wetherley, in Warwickshire.
The footpath towards Weston follows close to the edge of an almost continuous stretch of woodland, covering about 2 miles and including Waverley Wood, Weston Wood, North Cubbington Wood and South Cubbington Wood. Most of this is plantation, but there are some semi-natural sections. The fourteenth century church at Weston-under-Wetherley has a very old brass inscription to Anne Danet, dated 1497.
This cache is part of a series created by ‘A Coventry Way Association’. The association was originally formed to promote a long distance footpath, A Coventry Way, and to support local authorities in the path’s maintenance. Our primary aim was to encourage people to discover and use the local countryside. A book of 21 Circular Walks was produced, broadly based on the main walk. Our plan is to set out a variety of caches, located on or near each of the 21 walks. See ‘www.acoventryway.org.uk’ for further information. FTF will have the chance to grab a copy of the circular walks book.
The cache is small, 0.33 litre lock and lock box, containing the normal stuff. It is located on a public footpath on walk 7. This 9-mile walk starts at Bubbenhall (N 52 20.813 W 001 28.106), but for a short walk, parking is available in Weston-under-Wetherley (N 52 19.211 W 001 28.455). Take care crossing the road.
Included in the log book are the coordinates to another cache, Tubular Belle. Keep young cachers away from nearby water.
