Geocache Description:

This cache is hidden under about ten feet of water in a sunken canoe in Highland Lake.

The cache is a small yellow wallet-sized container tied to a brick and placed inside a sunken canoe.

You will not be able to see the sunken canoe from the surface. There is a marker on the canoe, but you will still need to dive down a few feet to see anything. There is no access to the cache from the shore. You will need your own boat to find this cache. Please remember to be respectful of the people on shore.

I hope you enjoy this challenging cache. I have wanted to place an underwater cache here for quite sometime. After stumbling upon the sunken canoe in the summer of 2006, I marked the location with a two liter bottle tied to a rock. The two liter bottle is close to ten feet deep and survived the winter undisturbed.

A snorkel and mask will make this cache much easier to find. I would suggest at least two people to find this cache, one in the boat and one in the water. Please be careful not to disturb the canoe too much.

Take the cache out of the water before you open it. You will need to bring your own pen. Make sure you put the cache back in the canoe when you are done. And, of course, keep the cache dry and properly sealed. The cache container is pretty small and can only hold a geocoin or two.

Only attempt this cache if you can swim and retrieve an item approximately ten feet underwater safely. There is no access to this cache from the shore. The neighbors who live near the cache know about, so you do not need to hide it from the people on shore.
