Why? In celebration of my first three years of geocaching, I am hosting a gathering of the world's finest geocachers. This means you! I'm also hoping to bag my 600th find by then.
Where? The location will be familiar to many of you. Hint: It's at the end of a cul de sac in Kirkland.
What? The event is a bit of a potluck. I'll have some beverages and food on hand. If you can bring a dish to share, that would be super. I will be launching my next Mission: Impossible geocache at this event! If you were not geocaching in early 2002, perhaps you do not know how significant this is. Stay tuned!
When? Sunday, August 29 from noon until 4 PM.
Did You Know? I first learned of geocaching when I reading about the Planet of the Apes movie on the Web. There was a link to the Project Ape geocaches.
My first find was almost a FTF. Trey and I were the second finders of Bulk Discount by a few hours. I took Adrian back there later that day for his first find.
Adrian had just turned four when we started. He has found nearly 1/3 as many geocaches as I have. That's nearly 200!
When I found my first geocache on August 29, 2001, Moun10Bike less than 100 finds! And that was a lot, considering how many geocaches were in Washington back then. (There were less than 20 geocaches in Washington at the beginning of 2001!)
My 2002 Crime Scene: Gathering of Evidence was one of the most-attended geocaching events in Washington state. Let's top that!
