Bis zur Wiedervereinigung war die Gegend zwischen Bahnhof Zoo, Kurfürstendamm, Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche, Europa-Center und KaDeWe das Zentrum Westberlins. Anschließend suchte sich Berlin neue Zentren und die Gegend verfiel. Erst in den letzten Jahren passiert wieder etwas. So wurde das Zoofenster mit dem Waldorf Astoria Hotel neu gebaut, wo vorher ein altes Teppichkaufhaus stand. Das Bikini-Haus wurde komplett neu gestaltet, die Gedächtniskirche restauriert und der Zoo Palast erstrahlt mittlerweile in neuem Glanz. So kann sich die »City West« wieder sehen lassen. Und es wird weiter gebaut…

When Berlin was divided by the Berlin Wall this area was the main commercial center of West-Berlin. After the reunification the area a the Potsdamer Platz and Brandenburger Tor become the new city center. The old buildings falls into disrepair. But in the last years the Zoofenster (Waldorf Astoria Hotel) was build, the cinema Zoo Palast and the Bikini Berlin were rebuild and the church Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche were restored. So you can visit the new City West now.
