The ratings reflects poor conditions and in many cases can be
down graded significantly (2/2.5 may be). In summer months this
cache is almost a drive by (2WD is fine if you have car designed
for Australian conditions), however in winter a basic walk or ride
of about 5.5km return will be required (2.25 in 2.25 out). The
cache is located in a nice natural rock garden with nice views both
local and afar. Weather conditions will change the rating and in
worst case the cache may be inaccessible due to snow on roads (if
getting up was hard don't drive down the other side). Thick fogs
also may obscure the nearby cliffs so take care.
Cache history
This was my first cache and when placed the tower at WP1 was
accessible to the public and as I was new to caching and had seen
multis with lots of maths even including BODMAS I thought this must
be what they all like. The cache formally involved counting ladder
rungs, ladders, your elevation above sea level and so on.
Everybody, it seemed, missed the 4th small ladder above the stairs
at the top. That era has now passed and the tower is of limits to
the public so to help give finders more time to see the natural
beauty of the place it has been drastically simplified.
Finding the cache
To find the cache go the above posted location and look for a small
stainless steel plate that looks like a mini travel bug tag with
some numbers on it. You won't need to dig or move grass or
rocks but you may need to move snow if applicable. Just fill in the
blanks as follows to find the cache.
S 37° 49.___' <- top 3 numbers go here
E146° 07.___' <- bottom 3 numbers go here
If you don't understand the cache name check the first page of
the log book.
