Aulestad, the home of a great poet

This is a cache dedicated to the famous Norwegian author Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson and his home in Gausdal.
Aulestad is today a national museum and is 100% authentic as it was when he lived there. It is open from mid May to mid September. There are guided tours in different languages and there is a fee to enter the building.
The area are used for several arrangements in the summer. There is always a special arrangement on May 17th. each year, celebrating our independence day. In 2005 we have 100 years anniversary after separating from Sweden in1905. We got our own constitution in 1814 but where under Danish and Swedish government until 1905.

Some facts about our famous author:
1832, borne on Dec. 8th. in Kvikne in Østerdalen.
1858, engaged to Karoline Reimers, May 16th., married Sept. 11th. same year.
1859, first child, Bjørn was borne Nov. 15th. He also writes the text to the song that later became the Norwegian national antem, “Ja, vi elsker.” (Yes, we love)
1874, Byes Aulestad in Gausdal.
1875, moves to Aulestad in June with his family.
1882, celebrates 25 years anniversary as author and gives out Synnøve Solbakken.
1890, youngest son, Erling, takes over Aulestad.
1901, takes Aulestad back because Erling don’t mange to run the farm.
1903, is he given the Nobel price in literature.
1910, Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson dies April 26th. In Paris, France.
1934, Karoline dies and there home was drawn over to the state. And was opened to the public in the summer months. The farm is still today run and owned by the Bjørnson family.

Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson is one of the most outstanding personalities in our history he was engaged in politics, human rights, peoples welfare and was not afraid to take a stand and stand up for his believes. With his 30.000 letters and 60.000 articles along with his authorship he is with no comparison Norways most productive author.

I thought it would be nice to make a small honour to this remarkable man and his home with a cache this year of celebration.
Enjoy

Some stealth needed, the area can be crowded at times. Maybe best in early morning or in the evening. It can hold a few small trade items. Please replace exactly as found. A typical drive by cache but hope you take the time to visit the museum.
