[PT] O Rio Mondego é o maior rio inteiramente Português, nasce
em Mondeguinho na Serra da Estrela e desagua no oceano Atlântico.
No seu caminho passa pelas Caldas da Felgueira.
[EN] Rio Mondego is the largest river entirely Portuguese,
having its source at Mondeguinho in the Serra da Estrela and
flowing into the Atlantic Ocean. On its way it passes through
Caldas the Felgueira. |

Caldas da Felgueira
[PT] Situadas no Vale do Alto Mondego, integrando a sub-região
Dão-Lafões, no distrito de Viseu e confinante com os distritos de
Coimbra e da Guarda, as Caldas da Felgueira são um pequeno
aglomerado urbano do concelho de Nelas, partilhado pelas freguesias
de Canas de Senhorim e de Nelas.
Graças à sua localização as Caldas da Felgueira permitem a
descoberta das regiões demarcadas do vinho do Dão e do queijo da
Serra da Estrela, as rotas das aldeias históricas, a pintura de
Grão Vasco ou os automóveis antigos do Caramulo.
[EN] Located in the Valley of Alto Mondego, integrating the
sub-region Dão-Lafões in the district of Viseu and confining with
the districts of Coimbra and Guarda, Caldas da Felgueira are a
small urban settlement of the county of Nelas, shared by
municipalities of Canas de Senhorim and Nelas. Thanks to its
location, Caldas da Felgueira allow the discovery of regions
distinguished by the Dão wine and the cheese of the Serra da
Estrela, the routes of historical villages, the painting of Grão
Vasco or the old cars do Caramulo. |
As Águas das Caldas da Felgueira
[PT] De acordo com alguns documentos e a própria tradição oral
consta-se terem sido os pastores e caçadores, os primeiros a
aplicarem estas águas para curarem as moléstias dos seus animais.
Por outro lado fala-se na existência de um padre, que possuía um
cão, o qual tinha uma doença de pele. O dono já lhe tinha tentado
fazer algumas curas, mas sem resultado. Passado algum tempo ele
começou a verificar que os sinais de doença do seu cão eram
mínimos. Surpreendido, começou a observá-lo no sentido de encontrar
uma resposta ao que estava a acontecer. Depressa descobriu que o
seu cão se banhava numas poças de água que existiam ali perto...
É no começo do séc. XIX que se inicia a utilização das águas das
Caldas da Felgueira em doentes que sofriam de males de pele.
Descobriu-se através de experiências feitas, que elas poderiam
curar diversos tipos de doenças, tais como: doenças do aparelho
respiratório (asma, bronquite, etc.), ao nível do aparelho
circulatório, doenças musculares, afecções da pele (eczemas),
etc.
[EN] According to some documents and the oral tradition it is
supposed that pastors and hunters have been the first to apply
these waters for healing diseases of their animals. Another legend
tells that there existed a priest, who had a dog with a skin
disease. The owner had already tried some healing, but without
result. After some time he began to see that the signs of the
disease of his dog were minimal. Surprised, he started to observe
the dog in order to find out what was happening. Soon he discovered
that his dog was taking baths in puddles of water nearby...
The beginning of the century XIX marks the begin of using water
of Caldas da Felgueira in patients suffering from skin diseases. It
was discovered through experiments that the water could cure
various types of diseases, such as diseases of the respiratory
system
(asthma, bronchitis, etc.), at the level of the cardiovascular
system, muscle diseases, disorders of the skin (eczema), etc.

[PT] Está cache irá levar-vos a visitar o Rio Mondego em Caldas da
Felgueira. Espero que gostem da visita a este local. A cache é um
tupperware de tamanho approx. 8cm x 8cm. Está num lugar bastante
tranquilo, mas tenham cuidado com os muggles de cima! Esta é a
segunda cache de uma pequena série projectadas para mostrar ao
geocacher a beleza do Rio Mondego.
[EN] This cache will take you to visit the Mondego River in
Caldas da Felgueira. I hope you enjoy the visit to this place. The
cache is a tupperware box of approx. 8cm x 8cm. It is in a quite
quiet place, but be careful with the muggles from above! This is
the second cache of a small series placed to show the geocacher the
beauty of the Rio Mondego.
