Fishpool Fumble Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

LostU: Sorry everyone. Was lovely having this cache but kept on being targeted by someone who found it funny spraying tomato ketchup in the cache. Bit bored of that so time to move on.

Geocache Description:

The cache is a small micro (slightly smaler than a 35mm canister) which only has space for a tiny log so you'll need to bring pen or pencil with you and no space for swaps I'm afraid.

The cache is wheelchair accessible if you approach from the north east with care as there is a reasonable dowhnill slope.

The lower part of Fishpool Street, at least as far as St Michael’s Manor began life as a Roman road. How far up the hill this ran is unknown but it was probably the terracing of this which resulted in the high pavement on the uphill side of the street. Fishpool Street certainly bore its name before the Norman Conquest. This came from the great fishpool from which in Saxon times the inhabitants of the royal estate of Kingsbury gained a livelihood. Fishpool Street became a Conservation Area in 1968. This Conservation Area now has 72 listed buildings. The houses with steeply pitched roofs are in general late medieval.
