Zion's Cemetery Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Wis Kid: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

The coordinates will take you to the parking area for the cemetery of Zion Lutheran in Readfield, WI. From there you are off to a (hopefully quick), three step "Unknown" or "Mystery" Cache. Not wheelchair accessible, but pretty easy for an average person. I am the pastor of this church, permission is granted to walk around the cemetery and to freely walk to the different steps involved. Maybe not best to do this at night, neighbors might wonder.

Step 1:
The given coordinates of the cache are just for parking. For the real first step you need to go for a stroll and find a very unique family tombstone, made of interesting granite, engraved "Sawall" here's a picture (visit link)
Now that you found the family marker, find "Father Edward J."

Step 2 is N44 16.XXX W88 46.YYY

To find XXX, Subtract 1354 from the year of his birth.
To find YYY, Subtract 1652 from the year of his death.

When you get to step 2, no math is required! The coordinates that take you to the 3rd and final step are around somewhere.

The 3rd step will not be difficult to spot, maybe a bit tricky getting to it, the fun hunting comes from the first 2 steps.

Have fun!
