Your target - the sea
I do not say much about this walk from Maska down to the sea. It is described in every book about Tenerife as one of the most impressive walks on the island.
Living on the island for several years I never had made this excursion before, when my daughter and her friend visited us and decided they wanted to do it. I quickly decided to join them, did put together a cache box late night (my apologies for the basic logbook) and do not regret it, though we made the walk down to the sea and back to Maska. It was one of my hardest and most beautiful tours ever on the island. You can do this like we did walking back and forth, or just walk down to the sea and let you pick up by a boat to 'Los Gigantes' in the afternoon. But where is your car then????
Drive to Maska village and try to find a parking lot. The path into the barranco starts at 28°18.263 N 016°50.431 W. On the first part of your walk, look for the answers to the following questions:
1) What resides around Coords 28°18.089 N 016°50.411 W :
A small bridge A=417
A little cottage A=395
A water dam A=441
2) What resides around Coords 28°17.936 N 016°50.814 W :
A small bridge B=696
A little cottage B=674
A water dam B=682
Now calculate the Coords of the Cache location according to the following rule:
28°17.A N 016°51.B W
and turn off your GPSr as you will have no GPS reception for the next hours until you get down to the sea, where you search for the cache. You better have the spoiler photos with you, to decrease cache difficulty, as GPS reception is still not very good near to the cache due to 'Los Gigantes'. Mobiles too will not work during the walk.

Message added 12/9/2015 : Due to all the recent complaints about the cache location, I placed a new box now around 200 meters away from the beach. I however highly recommend to firstly walk to the beach to get reasonable GPS reception and then walk back to the cache location. Also have the spoiler pictures with you as GPS reception is bad at the cache. Please also hide the cache well again, I would not like to visit the place once a month for maintenance.
Finally... no complaints about the T5 rating. Though it should be rather T4 or T4.5 now, as the 'path' to the cache is now easy, I will not change the rating because otherwise I would get again complaints from the 'statistic fans'.

No digo mucho de esta excursión de Masca al mar. Se la describe en casi cada libro sobre Tenerife siendo una da las excursiones las mas impresionantes de la isla.
Viviendo en la isla desde unos años, no hize esta excursión hasta mi hija y su novio nos visitaban y ellos querian hacerla. Para mi fue una decisión muy rápida y fácil, voy a accompañarlos. Preparando una caja de la noche a la mañana (perdona por el libro muy simple) no lamento la decisión, aunque caminamos ida y vuelta. Fué una de mis excursiones las mas duras y mas bonitas en la isla. Puedas caminar ida y vuelta como nosotros o solamente caminar por abajo al mar y buscar un barco por la tarde a 'Los Gigantes'. Pero donde se encuentra tu coche????
Conduce al pueblo de Masca y intentate encontrar un aparcamiento. El camino hacia el barranco comienza a 28°18.263 N 016°50.431 W. Durante la primera parte de la excursión, atines las respuestas sobre las preguntas siguentes:
1) Que esta a las coordenadas 28°18.089 N 016°50.411 W :
Un puente pequeño A=417
Una cabaña A=395
Una presa A=441
2) Que esta a las coordenadas 28°17.936 N 016°50.814 W :
Un puente pequeño B=696

Ahora calcules las coordenadas del cache según la regla siguente:
28°17.A N 016°51.B W
y apagues tu GPSr porque no tendrás recepción durante las proximas horas hasta llegando al mar, donde busces el cache. Mejor que tengas las fotos spoiler contigo reduciendo el grado de dificultad del cache, porque recepción del GPS todavía no es muy buena por 'Los Gigantes'. Móviles también no te sirven durante el paseo.

Mensaje añadido 9.12.2015: Por las quejas crecientes del lugar del cache, puse una caja nueva más o menos 200 metros de la playa. No obstante recomiendo irte a la playa de primero, para tener un GPS señal suficiente y luego volver al cache. Además es muy recomendable tener las fotos spoiler contigo, porque el señal al lugar del cache es malo. POR FAVOR también esconde el cache bueno otra vez, no quiero volver para mantimiento cada mes.
AL final... ningunas quejas por el T5 calificación. Aunque ahora es más un T4 o T4.5, porque el 'camino' al cache es fácil, no cambiaré la calificación, porque an caso contrario recibiré otra vez quejas de los 'aficionados de la estadistica'.

Eine Wanderung von 6 Stunden (hin und zurück). Gute Kondition. Gutes Schuhwerk, Essen und Wasser.
Über diese Tour von Maska zum Meer muß ich nicht viel erzählen, da sie in praktisch in jedem Buch über Teneriffa als eine der beeindruckendsten der Insel beschrieben wird.
Obwohl ich seit einigen Jahren auf der Insel lebe, hatte ich diese Tour noch nicht gemacht, als uns meine Tochter mit ihrem Freund besuchten und beschlossen, diese Wanderung zu machen. Schnell entschloß ich mich, sie zu begleiten, zimmerte eine Cache-Box in nächtlicher Arbeit zusammen (bitte um Entschuldigung wegen des einfachen Logbuchs) und bedaure es nicht, obwohl wir die Tour von oben nach unten zum Meer und wieder nach oben machten. Bis dato einer meiner schwierigsten aber auch schönsten Ausflüge auf der Insel. Du hast die Möglichkeit, die Tour so zu machen wie wir, oder nur zum Meer zu laufen und Dich dort am Nachmittag von einem Schiff nach 'Los Gigantes' mitnehmen zu lassen. Aber wo ist dann Dein Auto????
Fahre nach Maska und versuche, einen Parkplatz zu finden. Der Weg in die Barranco started bei 28°18.263 N 016°50.431 W. Im ersten Teil der Wanderung, finde die Antworten auf die folgenden Fragen:
1) Was befindet sich in der Nähe der Koordinaten 28°18.089 N 016°50.411 W :

2) Was befindet sich in der Nähe der Koordinaten 28°17.936 N 016°50.814 W :

Dann berechne die Koordinaten des Cache gemäß folgender Regel:
28°17.A N 016°51.B W
und mach Dein GPSr aus, weil Du die nächsten Stunden keinen GPS-Empfang haben wirst, bis Du zum Meer kommst, wo Du den Cache suchen kannst. Nimm sicherheitshalber die Spoiler Fotos mit, um die Suche zu erleichtern, da der Empfang wegen 'Los Gigantes' immer noch nicht sehr gut ist. Auch Handies funktionieren fast auf dem ganzen Weg nicht.

Note hinzugefügt 9.12.2015: Wegen der zunehmenden Beschwerden über den Ort des Cache, habe ich jetzt eine neue Box etwa 200 Meter vom Strand entfernt abgelegt. Ich empfehle jedoch, zunächst zum Strand zu gehen, um ein vernünftiges GPS Signal zu bekommen, und dann zurückzulaufen. Weiterhin solltest Du die Spoilerbilder dabei haben, da der Empfang am Cache schlecht ist. BITTE verstecke die Box auch wieder gut, ich möchte nicht jeden Monat zur Wartung anreisen, wie Du Dir vorstellen kannst.
Zum Schluß.... Keine Beschwerden wegen des T5 ratings. Obwohl das jetzt eher T4 oder T4.5 ist, weil der 'Weg' zum Cache leicht ist, werde ich das Rating nicht ändern, weil ich sonst wieder Beschwerden von den 'Statistic Fans' bekomme.
