In Norse mythology, Ratatosk ("Sharptooth") is a squirrel,
running up and down with messages in the giant tree Yggdrasil, and
spreading gossip. In particular, Ratatosk ferried insults between
the eagle at the top of Yggdrasil, and the dragon Nidhogg beneath
its roots.
This Cache is on private property in my grandmother’s backyard
close to the Yahara River.
Park in front of 718 Ridge St. and walk down the shared driveway
on the left. Her house is the red one, two houses west of the
Stoughton Hospital.
This is a DAWN TO DUSK cache please.
You will need to walk down a steep gravel drive to get to this
Cache. Going down isn’t so bad; it’s the walk back up that is
tough. Also, it does tend to get pretty wet down below near the
river, so you may want to wear water proof or rubber boots.
Remember to bring your camera on this one as there is usually
lots of wildlife in the back yard, like Deer, Cranes, Geese, Ducks,
etc… Have a seat along the river and watch for the Ospreys that
nest directly out from her property. Take your time and relax. You
don’t have to rush. Just don't be surprised if grandma waves to you
from her massive living room windows. She may even come out to say
hi. Take in all the beautiful scenery.
I have heard that people have a hard time with backyard caches
but grandma has pre-approved this Cache. By the way, if the
neighbors should happen to ask just let them know that you have
permission from Ellen Johnson, which is Grandma’s name.
Thanks!
BRING YOUR INSECT REPELLENT
