You Gotta Be Nuts!!!

To commemorate the coldest date that I can ever remember, I had to go out and place this cache.

When this cache was placed at 4:30am on Jan 06 2014, the temp was a REGULAR temp of -17, with the windchill dropping down to -56 degrees.

Frostbite is the medical condition where localized damage is caused to skin and other tissues due to freezing. Frostbite is most likely to happen in body parts farthest from the heart and those with large exposed areas. The initial stages of frostbite are sometimes called frostnip.

Hypothermia (from Greek ὑποθερμία) is a condition in which core temperature drops below the required temperature for normal metabolism and body functions which is defined as 35.0 °C (95.0 °F). Body temperature is usually maintained near a constant level of 36.5–37.5 °C (97.7–99.5 °F) through biologic homeostasis or thermoregulation. If exposed to cold and the internal mechanisms are unable to replenish the heat that is being lost, a drop in core temperature occurs. As body temperature decreases, characteristic symptoms occur such as shivering and mental confusion.
