Geocache Description:

This is a medium camo covered lock-n-lock hidden at the site of a memorial in honor of a B29 bomber which crashed during WW-II.

At 1:05 AM on a summer night in July of 1945 a B29 bomber was on a routine run from Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico, when it crashed near Soldier Creek Church in Marshall County. The 4 engine bomber had just refueled in Nashville when it encountered a thunderstorm and exploded over southwestern Kentucky. 9 of the ten soldiers on the plane died in the crash. A gunner in the tail of the plane was thrown clear of the plane by the explosion and parachuted to safety. The oldest of the 9 who died was only 27. B29 bombers were the largest and most powerful US bombers during WWII. They flew many raids against Japan and were the planes that dropped the atomic bombs over Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

You might want to check out the nearby cemetary while you're here. Located within the cemetary are graves of a soldier from the Revolutionary War, the Civil War and both World War I and World War II. The cemetary is still in use, so be respectful if there are visitors. The nearby Soldier Creek Church is no longer in use, but is still being maintained.

The original contents of the cache include a geocoin, a nice FTF prize, and numerous "things that fly."
