Geocache Description:

This multi-cache is located in the New Sheffield area of Aliquippa. The terrain is not difficult. However, stealth is a must. Park on Main St. near the Lefty Cepull field. The above coordinates will take you to the Veterens War Memorial on Main St. You will use the information from this memorial to obtain the coordinates for the 2nd stage. Make sure you print this page out.

This cache has been moved from it's original location. Anyone who has found this before can feel free to log it again.

I have listed the terrain as a 2.5 because the final stage is littered somewhat with broken glass and it's not wheelchair accessable. Be VERY careful! Please take some type of garbage bag with you and help to C.I.T.O.

The second stage is a small lock and lock container. It contains a small slip of paper with the coordinates to the last stage. Please copy them down. The final stage can be accessed easily not far from the 2nd stage. I dumped all of the things from my disabled "River's Edge" cache into the container. Please feel free to TAKE something and leave nothing. I'd like to have some room for future TB's. LOL. Let the hunt begin and have fun!

I called this cache the "Melting Pot" because people from many ethnic backgrounds were an integrel part in shaping what Aliquippa is today. They began to settle in the area to find work in the J&L steel mill which opened around 1906. A large number of ethnicities are represented here, which includes Slavic, Croatians, Greeks, and Italians among other Mediterranean and Northern Europeans.

Even though this town may be known by most as a "melting pot" of ethnic people...the various ethnicities have not really "melted" into American society..but grew *with* the society by keeping their own traditions alive as well as living as proud Americans.

Sadly, with the demise of the steel mills, the once bustling town has gone into ruin. It is now only a shadow of what it once was. Our cultural history remains alive however.

If anyone is interested in discovering the wonders of our multi-ethnic town..You may want to visit during the San Rocco festival held annually in August at the Lefty Cepull field or the Greek festival, which is held annually during the 2nd week of June. Both of these festivals are somthing to be experienced..not simply described.

The second stage of this cache is at:
N 40° AB.CAD
W 080° EB.FGH
