Geocache Description:

Image and video hosting by TinyPic/div>

Populations of the once common black and orange Monarch butterfly have dropped 90% in just the last two decades. Threats to the species are the loss of habitat in the U.S. with the lack of availability of milkweed, the only host food plant for the caterpillars, and nectar plants needed by adults. Monarchs need milkweed. Monarch caterpillars only eat milkweed and the plant provides all the nourishment the monarch needs to transform from the caterpillar into the adult butterfly.

MISSION: We will be making milkweed seedballs to be "released" along the RAGRAI route again this year.

WHEN: 10am until Noon
