This has to be one of my new favorite areas to be. I spent half of the day up here and the time just flew by. I wasn't planning on placing the cache here but the views are so awesome that I had too.

I hiked up to Willow Lake, then went around to the "long way" geocache. From there the trail forks and I took the fork up to Dry Lake. The trail to the lake is steep but I don't think much worse than the beginning of the trailhead. From Dry Lake I basically took game trails back and forth until I reached the top. You can go straight up the ridge or you can stay in the valley up til it ends and traverse across some of the steep stuff and then up (its a little easier). Its about 1500 feet total elevation gain from the paved road.

From the top you can see Willow Lake below, you can see Brighton Ski Resort and Solitude Ski Resort. You can see over to some peaks in Little Cottonwood Canyon and all the way down Big Cottonwood Canyon. The leaves are awesome this time of year. I hope you enjoy the hike as much as I did. I also saw a moose, 17 deer, and a snake during the hike so there are lots to see.

we were up this way for the sunday morning hike event by hiking seal. we said our good byes to our great group at dry lake and headed up to the ridge. the game trails went every which way so we just took the sraitest route possible to the top. we found the cache in perfect condition when we got there. we grabbed a geocoin thats not listed in the inventory and will move it along soon. we rehid the cache and enjoyed a short lunch before heading down to the lake. the view from this cache is awsome and well worth the effort it takes to get here. thanks for the fun time and the cache!

Found it today at 11 AM for my 100th find!
My friend and I were going to camp out near Willow Lake last night, but something came up and he couldn't go.
So I spent the night in my car down in the canyon and got some awesome pictures of the stars. This morning I headed to the top of Guardsman's Pass for some more great pictures of the sunrise.
I didn't even realize it, but I had 98 finds before today (I haven't logged any caches in four days). So since I grabbed one extra this morning it put me at 100 for this awesome cache!

The hike was a little more exhausting than I had expected.. My breakfast didn't really agree with me going, I guess. However, it was still really cool all the way up, especially at the top with that nice breeze coming up from the canyon.

I sat at the top for almost two hours taking pictures - There were three hawks (I think they were hawks) circling close by and diving down the canyons just above the trees. It was so cool to hear them screech as they dropped out of the sky.

This has been one of my favorite hikes so far - probably a close second to Lake Blanche. Thanks for sharing this amazing place!

We saw this cache listing right after it was placed and decided to save it for our 2000th find milestone.
We took nothing, left two pathtags and a UTAG geocoin.
Signed the log at 1300.
Thanks for the fun!

I was going to come up for this one on the Willow Heights hike, but I guess I forgot that file when I downloaded them all.. That's alright though, now I have a reason to come back!

This was the highpoint (literally) of a fantastic day of cache-hiking with lesdubois. Once again what was planned as a fairly casual trail hike turned into a bushwhacking adventure. Thanks for the spectacular views. This is a photographer's paradise. TNLNSL
