For the Birds? Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

chaosmanor: We hid this a little over nine years ago, and it has gotten a little over 100 Finds. It has also been replaced, by us and by others, at least a half-dozen times. I came over here after a morning of ODRs, and the thing was out in the open, again, and there was no log in it [V] This has gotten old. For whatever reason, this area is either frequented by muggles (the homestead to the west, perhaps?), or else animals use the cubbyhole as a resting spot at night: reasonable idea. Either way, nothing seems to work well, so we are retrieving the container and are archiving this. Many thanks to those who visited, especially those who volunteered containers.

Geocache Description:

One of several hidden to bulk up the caches along the northeastern edge of Los Angeles County. {173/156}

On Veterans Day of 2009, Jim of the team came out to the Mojave Desert with Webfoot for a day of caching. One of the top goals was knocking off some of the USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangles, for the L.A County Quad Challenge cache: GCZMBD. This had been difficult to do under the rules of the Challenge, as only one cache has been in the Rosamond Lake Quad for at least the past couple of years, and we got that one before the Challenge went up, so we can't use it.

And a couple of other Quads are pretty cache-poor, so Webfoot and I decided to try to fix that a little. We each hid a new cache in the Rosamond Lake Quad, and I hid a new one in one of the two Quads along the far northeastern edge. Now folks have a few more options available to go after that challenge cache. And maybe the locals will take up the gauntlet, and hide another cache or two out here

As we were driving down Avenue E, we saw an interesting pile of stones a bit north of the road; after a little exploring, we knew that this would be a great spot for a new cache. From what we can gather, this looks like an old farmstead of some sort. We found wells, several walls and the outlines of at least three buildings. And this very interesting little... birdbath? mini-spa? wading pool? If only these stones could talk

You are looking for a small, painted Lok-N-Lok container. Logbook and pencil are provided, as well as a couple of small bits of swag: room for a geocoin or two, or a small TB, is available. Please re-hide it well: thank you. Good luck! Have fun
