If you have ever driven this section of I-80, you may have
noticed a small monument on the west bound side of the road. The
memorial is in memory of New Jersey State
Trooper Philip J. Lamonaco who was murdered nearby in the line
of duty in 1981. Stop and pay your respects to a fallen hero.
To visit this site and locate the cache, DO NOT STOP on I-80.
There is a turn off to a side road paralleling I-80 just past the
memorial. You can safely park on the grass on the shoulder of this
side road. The memorial is on the other side of a chain link
fence.
