in our disclaimer.
The Easter Egg Cache Scramble will take place on Saturday March
15th, 2008.
The object of the scramble is to be the first geocache team to find
the Easter basket cache with all of its goodies.
On the day of the event, there will be six colorful special plastic
Easter eggs scattered throughout the Orem/Provo area. Each of those
eggs holds a part of the lat/long coordinate of the Easter basket
cache. Once you find all six of the Easter eggs, you will have the
complete lat/long coordinates to the Easter basket cache.
The coordinates to those six Easter egg caches will be posted on
this very page at precisely 10:05 am on Saturday, March 15th, 2008.
You may wish to refresh your browser about that time to ensure that
you get the coordinates as soon as possible after they are posted.
If you are out of the area and would like to participate…. There
are several Wi-Fi hot spots in the Utah County Area that that you
can log into if you have the access. I will see what I can find to
help find the areas.
Easy huh? Just find the six Easter eggs, put together the
coordinates and go pick up the Easter basket. Seemingly so, but
you've got to be fast to be first. And, finding some of the eggs
may involve some very simple puzzle solving - just enough to make
it interesting.
The Scramble is a geocache search targeted for all level
geocachers. However, it is also a fun family event. So bring the
kids, the dog, the cat, whatever... just come have fun.
Now the particulars:
Each of the six colorful plastic Easter eggs is about 3x2 inches in
size and may initially contain several small trinkets, mainly
geared towards kids, but we know adults like the toys, too. Should
you find an egg with a trinket inside, you may take one (leaving an
exchange prize is not necessary). Once the trinkets are gone ---
they are gone.
The coordinates (that will be posted below) may not point directly
to the Easter Eggs themselves but may point to a one-step puzzle
cache which, in turn, will point to the egg. An egg will be
involved somewhere for each of the six locations.
Please leave each egg cache exactly as you found it - remember that
others will be looking for the caches also.
A login cache will also be at the Easter basket cache site. Please
login whether the basket is still there or not so that you may get
credit for this event.
You may hunt the caches in any order. This should give everyone an
even start opportunity and optimize your chances to find a prize
before they are gone.
You may find it a good idea to bring along a pencil and paper.
Trust me - it's a good idea.
In the event of a problem with a cache (e.g. a missing cache), you
may call the Scramble Emergency Help Line at (will be posted the
morning of the cache). Please call this number also if you are the
first-to-find the Easter basket (I want to see how long it takes).
This is a one-day only event. The egg caches will be removed after
the meet and greet.
If you would like to discuss your geocaching adventure (and who
wouldn't) and meet other geocachers, we'll be meeting from 4:00pm
to 5:00pm at North Park in Provo that day for a meet and greet.
Just one final note: In the interest of fair play (to give all
cachers an equal chance), I am asking that each team stay together
for the duration of the hunt. Please do not split up. I know that
it would be faster to search for several caches simultaneously ---
but that just wouldn't be fair to the others nor be in the spirit
of the Scramble. Thank you.
We attended an event such as this last year and had alot of fun!
*NOTE ADDED 3/2/08*
Hi All! To answer the question in the last log, you will make your
own teams. And there is no limit as to how many are on a team. We
only ask, In the interest of fair play (to give all cachers an
equal chance), I am asking that each team stay together for the
duration of the hunt. Please do not split up. I know that it would
be faster to search for several caches simultaneously --- but that
just wouldn't be fair to the others nor be in the spirit of the
Scramble. Thank you. Also on another note.... I have been thinking
the whole Utah County area stretch may be not that great, and be
costly, when it comes to gas in peoples vehicles. So I am going to
change it to the Orem/Provo area, since that is about central of
Utah County. I hope that will work for everyone.
**Note added 3/11** Just another note, you do not have to attend
the meet at 4pm to log this event. You can log the event if you log
the cache at the end, there will be one there with the easter
basket, that will stay once the basket is gone, so everyone can log
there. Or if you just want to attend the meet and not do the
scramble, you can claim it that way as well.
Sorry this is late, network problems!
any problems, questions or you find the basket call
Good Luck! Have fun!
