Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
Please do not attempt this cache in a less than adequate
watercraft and it is probably not a cache for someone who has never
been in a canoe or kayak before. There are at least two rock dams
that you will have to run or line through when paddling south from
the island before the nearest take out and strainers are likely in
the area.

River at Englewood
I canoe with a friend who thought this island might be a perfect
place to spend the night on the Stillwater River- we tried it and
have since camped here many times. It is a fantastic location to
set up camp on the river.
On our last couple of outings, we have heard the piercing screams
and howls of the coyotes, always waking us up (hatchets in
hand).
You will be looking for a stainless steel micro container with an
o-ring, attached to a small tree on the island - it is the only
container that might be able to stand up to the frequent
floods.
Although the river here has few rapids, there are a couple of rock
dams you will have to negotiate if paddling south from the island
and there is always the possibility of strainers in this area -
COME PREPARED! We rarely have trouble navigating this area but I am
paddling with a veteran canoeist - take that for what its
worth.
I will leave the put-in and take-out up to you, but we usually put-
in at West Milton and take-out south of Springfield Rd for a 2-3
hour paddle. Enjoy the scenery!
