Geocache Description:

First geocache in Donald Trump State Park, Indian Hill section requiring a relatively flat 3/4 mile hike from the parking lot.

This cache is the first cache to be placed on the Indian Hill section of Donald Trump State Park. The Trump State Park is not heavily used in general and seems to be unpopular with geocachers based on the number of visits to caches in the French Hill section. However, we live close to one of the sections of DT State Park and fully appreciate it being a park instead of a golf course or housing development. We hope that you will decide to visit the DT State Park in spite of its name and enjoy these little bits of open space saved from destruction.

The Indian Hill section of the DT park is very different from most parks and/or preserves in Westchester being mostly overgrown fields bordered by woods. However, we think it has its own natural beauty -- especially during the spring and summer when the many plants and bushes are flowering. The trails are for the most part mown paths through the fields. There are at least two different routes to get to the cache. We suggest that you record a waypoint along the way or turn on tracks on your GPSr to make sure that you can find your way out again. The paths are bordered by and possibly blocked by a number of thorny plants so you may want to avoid open-toed shoes and we suggest that you wear long pants if you are adverse to scratched legs.

The cache is an ammo can that should be relatively easy to find without you having to disturb or move any natural (or unnatural) objects.

We challenge other geocachers to place caches in this park to encourage people to visit. As you will see, the Indian Hill Section of DT State Park does not get much use, and we think this is unfortunately given its unique character.
