On a hill on a public farm that used to raise alpacas, in some trees just off of one of the many trails.
This cache is located on a public farm half way up Whidbey Island. The farm used to host a couple of dozen alpacas. Cute, friendly critters that have a strange call. You can park in the Farm's parking lot and follow the trails up the hill.
The terrain is trails up a hill. The cache is 0.5 miles from the parking lot. There is a bench near the location to sit and enjoy the view.
There is a second access point from a "rest area" along the highway. The walk is shorter, but less interesting.
Note as of 10/13/04:: Bummer. The alpacas have been sold. They were such a great asset to the farm. I hope that someone comes in and uses the facilities for something similar. It's still a nice spot to view both sides of the island from the same place.
Note as of 3/6/05:: We've relocated the actual location and revised the coordinates. The tree it was in was getting very trampled. It needs a break.
