This cache takes you through the Decorah Community Prairie on wide mowed trails to the edge of the Upper Iowa River with views of the bluffs and wooded hillsides across the water. The Decorah bike trail also travels along the other side of the river.
This cache is a matchstick container on the river side of the tree. It lies a bit downstream from the culvert you see across the way.
There is a virtual waypoint added that takes you to a recreated effigy bird mound in the shape of a peregrine falcon. This mound was built to honor the many effigy mound builders that built dozens of mounds in the area around Mound Street, parallel to the dike and community prairie. Those mounds were either built over or became part of the dike system.
