Milano curiosa: la scrofa semilanuta Traditional Geocache

Raggiunto il cache, siete in Piazza Mercanti: nel perimetro esterno in direzione NE, si trova il bassorilievo raffigurante la scrofa semilanuta. Simbolo di Milano prima dell’avvento del biscione visconteo, secondo alcune versioni avrebbe originato il nome della città, in latino Mediolanum, come corruzione di Medio Lanae, ovvero semilanuta, con riferimento alla lunghezza del pelo di un particolare tipo di scrofa che viveva nella zona dove fu fondata la città.

Symbol of Milan before the advent of the visconteo snake, by someone would have originated the name of the city, in latin “Mediolanum”, corruption of “Medio Lanea”, that means “semilanuta-medium hair”. It reference to the length of the hair of a particular type of pork that it lived in the zone where was found the city.
