Tarjánka Ravine Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

haggaeus: Hi,
according to my information this cache is not active anymore and its listing has also been disabled on the geocaching.hu site.
I am archiving it, so it will not appear in searches on geocaching.com and geocachers will not try searching for it. If you restore the cache and want to enable the geocaching.com listing again, contact me through my profile and I can unarchive it (provided that it meets the geocaching.com guidelines - in this case a permission from the National Park Authority would be required).
Thanks for understanding

Geocache Description:

One of the most beautiful cache sites of Hungary is situated in the Mátra Mountains. It is narrow ravine of the Tarjánka stream, where no tourist trails lead. It is especially spectacular in winter when huge icicles hang from the walls forming a translucent dripstone-cave. It is a dangerous climb, good boots are highly recommended.

On New Years Day this year I have found one of the most exciting sites of Hungary. So far I had seen places like this only in alpine environment. Imagine a narrow valley embraced by mountains. The valley is as narrow as 2-3 m in some places. Splendid rocks surround it, waterfalls around, which become huge icicles and ice-cascades in winter.
All this beauty can hardly be found on the tourist map, no trails lead here.
The cache-box is hidden on the ravine edge, so that spring floods do not wash it away and that you can receive satellite signals. Search the box in a bush. The edge is very steep, rocky and in winter also icy, so please be very careful! This terrain is a real challenge that is why I gave 4+ for terrain.
Suggested starting point: N 47 49,830 E 20 5,511
I think I will be most proud of this cache.
Thanks to Gábor Chikán for the inspiration.
