The Swedish Pioneer Log Cabin was constructed of hand-hewn logs and wooden pegs in 1868 on the Tysk Anders Olson homestead (between Lake Carrie and Lake Elizabeth in Section 35, gennesse Twp, Kandiyohi Co., Minn) by immigrants from the Swedish province of Dalarna. During their first winter in America, it was the home of Tysk Anders & Karin Olson, Ole (15), Christine (9, later Mrs. K Andrew Peterson, Carrie (6, later Mrs. R Peter Peterson), and Louis (born in the cabin) and P Matts & Margaret Mattson, Christine (5), Mary (2) and Annie (born in the cabin).
