Geocache Description:

Park hours 6am to 10 pm. Please obey all park rules.

The state's nickname, The Land of 10,000 Lakes, is no exaggeration; there are 11,842 Minnesota lakes over 10 acres in size.

A lake is not defined by size or depth as some may suggest. A lake may be defined as an enclosed basin filled or partly filled with water. A lake may have an inlet and/or an outlet stream, or it may be completely enclosed (landlocked). Generally, a lake is an area of open, relatively deep water that is large enough to produce a wave-swept shore.

The ten most common lakes names in Minnesota are: Mud, Long, Rice, Bass, Round, Horseshoe, Twin, Island, Johnson, and Spring.

There are 11 Round lakes in Minnesota. One Round Lake is in the City of Round Lake.  Round Lake in Eden Prairie is the smallest at 31 acres and the only one in Hennepin County.
