Geocache Description:

Spiromania #28

A picture puzzle with a twist. Cache is not at the listed location. As is usual in this series VKabdefghij is an abbreviation for UTM: 15T E 4abcde N 49fghij

Consider the following pictures of locations around Paris:

To certify your solution enter it in the form VKabcdefghij and receive the coordinates in lat/lon format and a hint on the hide. As a preliminary check please note that the digit sum a + b +... + j = 42. If you enter the numbers in a certain incorrect order you will be given a hint as to the correct order.

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.

Added 5/30/17. More than you need to know, i.e. comments on the pictures (in alpha order as listed on the left) and their locations.

  1. arc-de-triomphe. This is the famous Arc de Triomphe de l'étoile, not the smaller Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel nearby often confused with it. Recall a scene in a Pink Panther movie in which I think it was Peter Sellers in a gorilla suit who drives around and around the arc. The first time we were in Paris we did the same thing- although not intentionally.
  2. bourse-des-valeurs. In the 2nd arrondissement. Not to be confounded with the Bourse du Commere which is in the 1st arrondissement .
  3. gare-du-nord. Not to be confused with the gare d-est, gare d'orsay, gare d'austerlitz, gare de lyon, et. al.
  4. jardin-du-luxembourg, Just one of many nice scenes in this great park near our hotel in the 6th arrondissement.
  5. louvre. The biggest art museum in the world, no matter how one figures it. Opening scene in "The Da Vinci Code".
  6. musee-picasso. One of several such museums around the world. This one, located in the Hôtel Salé on rue de Thorigny in the Marais district in the 3rd arrondissement, reopened in 2014. Older references may be confusing. Features his wife who was also his model. Go figure.
  7. opera-garnier Not to be confused with the Opera Bastille in the 11th arrondissement, which is where most operas are performed these days.
  8. pantheon. Not to be confused with the much older pantheon in Rome. This is the site of the Foucault pendulum, used in an earlier cache in this series.
  9. tour-eiffel. Not to be confused with the small version in Las Vegas. So big we had to rotate the camera by pi/4 to get it all in.
