Back when Dayton was just starting out. Some very large and odd things were found at the mouth of the Crow River. When the men were clearing away a grove of two feet thick elms. The items found in the river caused a Doctor Ames of Minneapolis and many other men a hearty laugh. The writer of the article stated he was told by the Sioux indians that there were remains of something at this site.
