This is the second Mom's Happy Birthday cache that we've placed today. We were on our way home from shopping in Duluth for Mother Rodey's birthday present when she thought that this would be a great spot for a cache. So we stopped quickly, placed a cache and headed home. The cache is a small tupperware container, so there isn't a lot of room for trade items. A geocoin or two would fit nicely. You can park within 20 ft of the cache. Should be pretty straight forward. Happy caching! Bring your own pencil!
10-22-16 update: Cache has been replaced with a new container and logbook. The cache is located in the original hiding spot. Starting contents: new logbook, pencil, woody toy, and a special coin. Please cover up the cache exactly how you found it. Happy caching!
7-6-21 update: I've passed through town a few times over the past few months and noticed the temporary barricades in front of the parking lot entrances. Per MNDOT's website, 'the ownership of the Floodwood Rest Area is being transferred to the City of Floodwood and it will be closed indefinitely. The building will be locked, and the parking lot will be barricaded as of April 5'. While passing through town recently, I noticed the temporary barricades are more like permanent barricades now. There's still room to pull off the highway to park in front of a barricade and be within 100' of the cache. We'll monitor what the future state of the site is, but for the time being, there's no reason not to keep this cache going. Happy caching!
