How many times when out walking or cacheing have we come across a pond or Dew pond that seems to be asking to become a Cache?.
So armed with pre-prepared micro, it is easy, see site, hide micro, record co-ordinates, get home and enter listing details.
This series will consist of a mixture of:-
caches in their own right
caches situated on the way to other caches
cache and dash types.
In many cases you can decide which type you want it to be, and may want to look at your maps to decide before setting off.
Cache is a 35 mm film canister containing logbook, please bring your own pencil.
#10 Pyecombe Golf Club 10th Hole.
This was originally the green of the 10th hole, which you see now situated next to the pond.
During the autumn of 1989 the fields on the other side of the footpath were ploughed, and this co-incided with torrential overnight rain.
This started a mud slide, which filled the green and continued down the valley and out the other end.
The golf club decided to build another green, clear out the now ruined green and turn it into a permanent pond.
This pond attracted much wildfife, deer, foxes ,badgers, newts, frogs and toads, as well as many species of bird.
However, the pond started to leak so it was re-lined during the autumn/early winter of 2006.
The wildlife has returned and you will see the marginal plants are beginning to re-grow.
You can view the pond and find the cache from the footpath so please do not enter the Golf Club as it is private property.
Enjoy.
