Geocache Description:

This cache is now number 4 of 5 on a beautiful 3 mile circular walk that begins by following the course of the River Arun and adjacent Wey and Arun Canal. Nearby Wisborough Green is well worth a visit before or after your walk. It is the quintessential English village, complete with village green, cricket pitch, duck pond, church, pubs and tea room (opposite green).

The suggested parking place is along the A272 and is limited to three cars. You could visit the Limeburners PH and leave your car there (but this is not a "dash and cache"). It is possible to park a couple of cars on the road by the bollards for the Limeburners Car Park (starting here makes the walk a little shorter). Alternatively you could park further down the same lane and join the path. There is masses of wildlife to enjoy on your walk. We saw herons, Canada geese, swans, ducks, bunnies, masses of frogspawn and not-so-wild highland cattle. Previously I have seen deer and a kingfisher along the same route.

Your walk will take you past Lordings Lock (Micro 3), a fascinating location which is still under restoration. There are picnic tables here (although there are many lovely places to picnic along the route). Walking to the cache site from Lording's Lock, you MUST follow the path ahead and cross the river. You then need to angle away from the direction of the GPS arrow - don't follow the river bank here as you can't get through. Head over another little bridge and up the bank to skirt a small wooded area before regaining confidence in the direction shown on your GPS! The cache is a regular size plastic box and contains swaps and a log book. Please take care to replace the main cache and the micros exactly as you find them.

This part of the Arun valley does tend to flood in times of heavy rain but is usually accessible. If wet, do not attempt without wellies!

At N51 00.620 W000 29.089 you will find a place where I believe other Leprechauns meet. Tread quietly so as not to frighten them away!
