Katajaketo on nimensä mukaisesti vanha eläinten laitumena käytetty erittäin kaunis katajainen keto Ylöjärven Asuntilassa. Katajaketo is an old animal field crowing a lot of juniper trees; a beautiful place indeed.
Tutustuminen Katajaketoon kannattaa aloittaa annetuista koordinaateista, joihin voi jättää myös auton. Kun auto on saatu parkkiin lähdetään kävelemään pisteestä länteen leveätä polkua pitkin.
Siinä kävellessään voi mielen pitää virkeänä laskeskellessaan montako vähintään kymmensenttistä koivua tien vasemmalla penkalla kasvaa (A). Kun polkua on jonkunaikaa saapasteltu saavutaan katajakedolle.
Riippuen tietysti hiukan vuodenajasta mutta aina kannattaa kiinnittää huomiota kedon runsaslukuiseen kasvillistoon. Kedolle on pystytetty myös (B) kulmainen infotaulu jonka korkeus on (C).
Kun nämä tarkat huomiot on tullut tehdyksi kannattaa kierrosta jatkaa kahden kuusen vieressä kohoavalle pienelle avokalliolle. Täällä on hyvä kiinnittää huomiota rautaisten reikien lukumäärään (D) ja siirtyä sitten rajapyykille numero 55.
Pyykiltä matka jatkuu tosisuuntaan 20 astetta. Sieltä noin viidenkymmenen metrin päästä alkaa pieni polku. Kun polulla tullaan T-haaraan valitaan vasen. Kun yli metriset joutuvat kumartamaan saavut seuraavaan "risteykseen" josta vaihtelun vuoksi valitaan oikeanpuoleinen haara.
Tätä polkua kavutaan mäen päälle ja saavutaan taas Y-risteykseen. Y:n pikarissa on kivi jonka päällä on hyvä seistä. Suuret kuuset hiukan rajoittavat satelliittivastaanottoa, mutta tarkkaa lukemaa kannattaa hamuilla vaikkapa Vapaudenpatsaan asentoa tapaillen sillä tämän pisteen koordinaatit on hyvä pistää tarkasti talteen.

Vaikkapa polkua seuraillen. Nyt olemmekin jo melkein lähtöpisteessä ja jotta reissu ei nyt ihan pelkäksi kävelemiseksi menisi niin poimitaan kätkö talteen matkalta pisteestä joka on kutakuinkin 171 metriä tosisuuntaan 96 astetta siltä Y-haarassa olleelta kiveltä.

Getting to know Katajaketo is good to start by parking the car to the given co-ordinates. When the car has been parked you should start walking the wide path to the West.
While you are walking you can keep your mind occupied by counting how many birch trees there are on the left shoulder of the path(A).
After some hike you reach the Katajaketo itself. Depending a bit on the season you should pay some attention on the rich fauna of the field. There is also am info sign on the field that has (B) corners and is (C) high.
After these important observations it's nice to continue the hike to the open ledge by the two tall spruce trees. Here it's practical to note down the number of holes on the irons and head down to the boundary marker number 55.
From the marker take the true bearing 20 degrees for about fifty meters where you should be able to find a small path.
As you hike the path you will end up into a T-junction. There you should continue to the left. When people over one meter have to duck you should reach another junction.
For the sake of adventure let's take right this time and hike all the way up the hill. As we have reached the top of the hill we meet with yet another Y-junction.
Like a pedestal there is a rock on the "bowl" of the Y where you can stand comfortably. The large Spruce trees somewhat limit the satellite reception there but it pays of to make an effort to get good reception here. One solid proven method is to stand on the rock with a posture that mimics the Statue of Liberty; And hit the bookmark key on your GPS.

By, for example, following the path.
Now we are almost where we started from and just so that this would not be only a hike it might be a good idea to pick up the cache on your way back to the car. It's located pretty closely 171 meters to the true bearing 96 from the rock you were standing on like the Statue of Liberty earlier on.
