Kätköpaikka sijaitsee Saimaan Ruohosaaressa, jossa on Saimaan Latu
ry:n ylläpitämä laavu. Laavun lähettyvillä on myös polttopuita sekä
käymälä.
Saareen pääsee kesäisin vesitse ja kätköpaikan lähellä onkin
rantautumiseen oivallisesti soveltuva hiekkaranta.
Rantautumispaikka löytyy suurinpiirten koordinaateista N 61°04.731'
E 028°07.025'. Talvisin laavulle pääsee luonnollisestikin
näppärästi jäitä pitkin kävelemällä. Laavulle on talvisin myös
hiihtoladut. Terrain-luokitus johtuu täysin siitä, että kätkö
sijaitsee saaressa. Saareen päästyäsi terrain on 1,5.
Itse kätkö on vajaan puolen litran lock 'n lock rasia johon
järkevän kokoiset reissaajat mahtuvat mainiosti. Kätkö on
mahdollista löytää myös talvella. Lunta saattaa joutua hieman
siirtelemään, mutta vihjeen avulla homman pitäisi hoitua.
The cache site is located in an island called Ruohosaari on lake
Saimaa. On the cache site there's a shelter with a fireplace, some
firewood and a toilet maintained by Saimaan Latu organisation.
During summertime you can reach the island easily by
boat/canoe/kayak. Near the cache site there's a very convenient
small beach for going ashore at coordinates N 61°04.731' E
028°07.025'. During wintertime you can naturally just walk across
the frozen lake or put on your cross-country skis and use one of
the numerous skiing tracks leading to the island. The terrain
rating is 5 only because the cache is on an island. After you've
managed to get yourself on the island the terrain rating is
1,5.
The cache is a half a liter plastic lock 'n lock container which
has plenty of room for reasonably sized trackables. It's possible
to find the cache during wintertime, but you might have to move
some snow. Using the hint should get the job done though.
