Itä-Suomen yliopisto on Joensuun ja Kuopion pääkampuksien muodostama kokonaisuus, jolla on sivukampus Savonlinnassa. Tämä helppo kätkö sijaitsee Kuopion kampuksella, Canthia-rakennuksen välittömässä läheisyydessä. Tämä kätkö on itsenäinen "University of Eastern Finland, Joensuu" ja "University of Eastern Finland, Savonlinna" -kätköjen sisarkätkö.

Itä-Suomen yliopisto on monitieteinen yliopisto, jossa toimivat seuraavat tiedekunnat:
  • filosofinen tiedekunta
  • luonnontieteiden ja metsätieteiden tiedekunta
  • terveystieteiden tiedekunta
  • yhteiskuntatieteiden ja kauppatieteiden tiedekunta

Tutkimuksellisiksi vahvuusalueiksi voidaan Joensuussa nimetä kasvatus, kehitys ja koulutus sekä metsä ja ympäristö. Vahvoja osaamisalueita ovat myös optiikka, uudet materiaalit ja informaatioteknologia sekä raja ja Venäjä. Kuopiolaista tutkimusosaamista edustavat molekyylilääketiede, lääketutkimus ja biotekniikka sekä ympäristöterveys ja ympäristön muutoksen tutkimus. Kuopion vahvoja tutkimusaloja ovat myös lääketieteellinen ja hyvinvointiteknologia sekä hyvinvointipalvelututkimus.

The University of Eastern Finland is formed of the main campuses in Joensuu and Kuopio, and there is also a campus in Savonlinna. This easy cache is located at the campus of Kuopio, very close by Canthia building. This cache is the independent member in the "University of Eastern Finland"-cache series. Other caches in the series are: "University of Eastern Finland, Joensuu" and "University of Eastern Finland, Savonlinna".

NOTE! Please, put the container back just to same place as it was.

The four faculties of the University of Eastern Finland are:
  • the Philosophical Faculty
  • the Faculty of Science and Forestry
  • the Faculty of Health Sciences
  • the Faculty of Social Sciences and Business

The campuses of Joensuu and Kuopio both have their own research profiles. The areas of expertise in research of the University of Joensuu are education and human development, forests and the environment, optics, new materials and information technology and border studies and Russia. Expertise of the University of Kuopio lies in molecular medicine, drug research and biotechnology, medical and wellbeing technology and e-health, environmental health and environmental change research and welfare services research.
