Relatively easy cache in middle of nowhere. Can be reached by car. Snow can make things bit more difficult in the winter but shouldn't be an obstactle. Enjoy the sounds.
Lappilainen gongi (Lappish Gong)
Vierusjärvi padottiin 50-luvun alussa. Vuonna 1952 Vierusjärven pintaa nostettiin neljä ja puoli metriä, jotta vesi riitti uuteen Jumiskon voimalaitokseen. Veden nostamisen myötä kaksi erillistä järveä, Vierusjärvi ja Irnijärvi, yhdistyivät yhdeksi järveksi. Kätkö sijaitsee Vierusjärven padolla, jonka avulla säännöstellään Vierusjärvestä menevää vettä Jumiskonjokeen.
Vierusjoen alkupää sijaitsee kätkön läheisyydessä, ja joki laskee Jumiskonjokeen, joka alkaa Nolimosta. Vierusjoen uomaa louhittiin, jotta saataisiin vesi valumaan halutusta kohdasta.

The Vierusjärvi dam was built in the 1950's. In the year 1952 the water level of the lake Vierusjärvi was raised 4,5 meters in
order to get enough water to the new Jumisko powerplant. When the water level was raised two lakes, i.e. Vierusjärvi and Irnijärvi, were joined as one lake. The geocache is located at the Vierusjärvi dam, which is used to regulate how much water goes from the lake to the river Jumiskojoki. The start of the Vierusjoki is near the cache and the river flows into the river Jumiskojoki, which starts from Nolimo. The rock from the bottom of the river Vierusjoki was cut in order to get the river flow from the right place.
The life time of the powerplant and time needed to cut the rock are only brief breaths but a man's effect on the rock will
remain and be seen for thousands if not millions of years. The purpose of this cache is to make the finder for a brief moment
think how relative our time concept actually is while listening to "a Lappish Gong".
When you have found the cache, walk to the road near the start of the river Vierusjoki and when the sound of water is the
loudest hit the metal hard with hand, rock or anything in your hand (not too expensive) and let your thoughts fly millions of
years away from this moment and think what will be left of all of this.
