Rumala-Kuvaja-Oudonrimmet on laaja aapasoiden ja keitaiden muodostama soidensuojelualue Vaalassa. Alueella on laajalti vetisiä rimpinevoja ja suo on linnustollisesti hyvin rikasta, mitä korostaa sijoittuminen lähelle Oulujärveä. Alueella pesii uhanalaisia petolintuja, lokkeja sekä vesilintuja ja se on yksi Pohjanmaan parhaista kaakkurisoista. Luonnonsuojelualueen pinta-alan on 4849 ha.
Kuvajan laidalla on lintutorni sekä laavu, josta löytyy polttopuuta, wc ja nuotiopaikka. Kuvajan lintutornille sekä laavulle pääsee Enonlahdesta Metsälammentietä pitkin. Vaikka alue on helposti autolla saavutettavissa, voi Kuvajalla saavuttaa suurten erämaiden tunnun. Runsas lintulajisto, helppo parkkeeraus, muutamien kymmenien metrien päässä tiestä sijaitsevat taukopaikat sekä erikoinen suoluonto tekevä kohteesta erityisesti lapsiperheille soveltuvan. Alueelle on koirien tuonti kielletty luonnonsuojelualueen järjestyssääntöjen vuoksi.
”Otson kotisuo” –kätkö on omistettu ½ vuoden ikäiselle Otso-pojalle joka on syntymästään asti kiertänyt metsäretkillä, vaellusreissuilla ja geokätköillä muun perheen mukana. Tämän vuoksi kätkössä on karhu-aiheista vaihtotavaraa. Tämän lisäksi kätköstä (½ litran pakastusrasia) löytyy kynä, lokivihko, teroitin ja pieni taskulamppu.
[Karhu on ollut muinaissuomalaisille pelätty, mutta myös pyhä ja arvostettu eläin. Karhu on tarinan mukaan laskettu taivaalta Otavan tähtikuviosta. Karhulla on useita kiertoilmauksia, kuten mesikämmen, kouvo, kontio, metsän omena, metsän kuningas ja nalle. Kiertoilmauksia käyttämällä muinaissuomalaiset ovat halunneet välttää kutsumasta petoa luokseen. Karhun ehkä vanhinta ja alkuperäisintä nimitystä vastaa nykyisessä suomen kielessä sana otso.]

Rumala-Kuvaja-Oudonrimmet is wide area of aapa mires at the southern part of Vaala region. The protection area is mostly watery marshes and it has very rich bird population, which is emphasized because of placement nearby the lake Oulujärvi. Very many endangered bird species are nesting at the area and is one of the best places to see red-throated divers at the Ostrobothnia. The scenic area is 4849 hectares wide.
In the edge of Kuvaja swamp there is a bird tower and lean-to, where you can find firewood, toilet and a campfire. You can access easily both bird tower and lean-to along the road of Metsälammentie. Although the area is easily accessible by car and located break points are only 50 metres away from the road, you can have a feeling of wilderness at the area. Protection area of Rumala-Kuvaja-Oudonrimmet is suitable for families even with very small children. Altough dogs are prohibited at the area because of the regulations of the conservation area.
"Home swamp of Otso" -cache is dedicated to my ½-year-old son, Otso (Bear), who has toured forests, hiking trips and geocaches with our family since birth. Therefore the cache includes exchange stuff which are related to bears. In addition the cache includes a pen, log file, sharpener, and small flashlight.
[Bear is the ancient Finnish animal which has been feared, but also sacred and valued. Story tells that bear was set down from the Great Bear star chart. Word "bear" has a number of euphemisms in finnish language: by using these phrases ancient finns have wanted to avoid calling the beast. Otso is the most native and perhaps the oldest known word in the Finnish language for a bear. Its also quite rare name which popularity has grown lately and nowdays theres is number of small boys called Bear.]
