This story you can find at the main airport (JNB). The Camera Today as you too travel far and wide through the gateway to Africa, the Big Five are still being shot and captured. Only now they’re being shot on camera and captured on celluloid. Through this evolution and conservation we hope to preserve the African beauty. As you step through the Gateway to Africa, remember to take only photo’s and leave only footprints! Gun Shot … But the game was no longer fair when man got a gun. The battle plan changed and the Big Five no longer had control over their kingdom. No longerwas survival based on strength and stamina. Trade and trophy reigned supreme. Merciless slaughter and the threat of extinction rained down on the African soil … Spears … And with the Big Five, the Zulu warriors too roamed the plains. The brave warriors raised their iron spares and fought ferociously, man against beast, to feed their people and adorn their kings. Their polished spreadheads mimicking the glistening fangs of the wild animals as they glided seemingly effortlessly into the heart of their prey … Bows & Arrows … But the Big Five weren’t alone. In the arid Kalahari dessert, the bushmen too roamed the open land. Armed with their carefully crafted bows and arrows, these indigenous tribesmen of the desert merged with the animal kingdom to sustain themselves. They joined the fight for survival, clothing and feeding themselves with the consequence of their hunt … Big Five In the beginning the animals roamed wild and free. The lion and the elephant batteled for supremacy over the animal kingdom, the buffalo and the rhinoceros grazed the fertile earth and the leopard skulked around the waterholes in anticipation of filling his belly. This was life in Africa for the Big Five … Coordinates are as follows: N60 13.Leopard + Lion + Rhino -1 N24 38.Leopard + Lion + Elephant +1
