Joen vedet laskevat Kuusinkijokeen, yhteen Kuusamon kuuluista taimenjoista. Myös tässä koskessa taimen, harjus ja siika viihtyvät.
Kosken rannalla on nähtävissä vanhan sahan rauniot. Paikalla on toiminut 1900-luvun alkupuolella ensin liippatehdas, myöhemmin sahalaitos 60-luvulle saakka, jolloin uusi laitos rakennettiin n. 1 itäänpäin tästä paikasta. Sahan historia on ollut traaginen, 4 tulipaloa, jotka ovat tuhonneet vuorollaan lähes kaiken. Ensin uuden sahan pakkaamo, sitten itse uusi saha, jonka toiminta oli jo loppunut pakkaamon palon vuoksi. Tämän jälkeen joen vastapuolella ollut vanhan sahan asumaton toimistorakennus. Ja viimeiseksi tarkoituksellisesti poltettiin valvotusti vanha saharakennus huonon kunnon ja vaarallisuuden takia. Rauniot joen takana näkyvät kätkölle.
Vanhan sahan alueelle menoa ei suositella, sillä rauniot ovat edelleenkin vaarallisia. Myös alueen omistajien toivomus on, että alue saisi olla rauhassa.
The waters of the river poor down into Kuusinkijoki, one of the famous fishing rivers in Kuusamo. Also here you can catch trout, grayling and white fish.
On the river bank on the other side you can see the ruins of an old saw mill. At the spot there has been a whetstone factory at the beginning of 19th century, later on a saw mill up to the 60's, when a new saw mill was built app. 1 km east from this spot. The history of the saw mill has been tragic. 4 different fires have burned down nearly everything. First the packing plant of sawn timber, then the new saw mill itself, which was already closed due to the fire of the packing plant. After that the unoccupied dwelling house of the old saw mill caught fire and was totally destroyed. Finally the old saw mill was burned down on purpose and under control because buildings were already in a very bad shape and were dangerous. The ruins of the old saw mill and the dwelling house can be seen on the other side of the river.
Admittance to the old sawmill area is not recommendable because the ruins can still be dangerous and because of the wish the owners.
