Pirtukätkö
Ei, kätkössä ei ole pirtua. Mutta tarina kertoo, että saaristossa kieltolain aikaan ahkerasti toimineet pirtun salakuljettajat olisivat käyttäneet paikkaa kätkönä Virosta veneillä tuomilleen pirtukanistereille. Tarinan todenperäisyys lienee melko kyseenalainen, ainakin paikalle tuotu rekvisiitta on varsin tuoretta. Kätkijöillä olisi ollut myös melkoinen urakka kuskata kanisterit jyrkkää rinnettä ylös: paikallinen tapa olikin tehdä kätköt mereen. Eräs nuottakuntakin sai pirtunimensä saatuaan tällaisen kätkön saaliikseen.
Booze cache
No, there's no booze in the cache. The story goes that during the prohibition in Finland, entrepreneuring smugglers used the nearby caves as a stash for the ethanol canisters they imported from Estonia. Whether the story is true can be questioned, at least the equipment placed there is a lot more recent. It is doubtful that the smugglers would carry their heavy cargo up the steep shore. The common practice was to sink the cans to a suitable location. One local seine fishing group even got their nickname for accidentally catching fish of the more liquid school.
