An easy traditional cache at Sveabryggan in Södra Vallgrund

Från 1908 till 1952 hade Södra Vallgrund regelbunden turbåtstrafik till Vasa. Passagerartrafiken sköttes först med två träbåtar men på grund av deras dåliga egenskaper i isföre inköpte 1929 Sveabolaget järnbåten, ångfartyget Åminne. Bogserbåten Åminne ombyggdes grundligt för att fylla fordringarna för passagerartrafik och döptes om till Svea. Svea transporterade både människor, djur och varor av olika slag. Under 1930-talet kostade en tur-returresa 7 mk. Fraktavgiften för en levande ko var 20 mk och för en årsgammal kalv 10 mk. När postbussarna började trafikera till Vasa år 1948 blev lönsamheten nedsatt, dock behövdes Svea ännu för transporter. Men när den nya färjan mellan Replot och Alskat kom in i bilden beslöt man i november 1952 att Svea skulle avriggas och såväl maskin som båt skulle utbjudas till salu.

From 1908 to 1952 regular passenger traffic by boat was maintained between Södra Vallgrund and Vaasa. At first the traffic was run with ships built of wood but they were not suitable for icy conditions and in 1929 Sveabolaget bought an ironboat, the steamship Åminne. The towship Åminne underwent heavy reconstruction to fill the demands of passenger traffic and was renamed Svea. Svea transported both people, animals and all sorts of goods. During the 1930s a return ticket cost 7 marks. The shipping cost for a living cow was 20 marks and for a year-old calf 10 marks. When regular bus routes to Vaasa were established in 1948 the profitability failed yet Svea was still needed for the transportation of goods. However, when the new ferry between Replot and Alskat emerged it was decided in November 1952 that Svea would be unrigged and sold.
