Geocache Description:

A caching race

This is a series of 19 puzzle caches in the shape of a question mark on the map of Burgess Hill. All hides are within (or on the very edge of) the urban area of Burgess Hill, but I have tried to keep them away from places overlooked by buildings.

One day two Geocachers, Harry and Mo, decide to have a competition to see who can snag the most finds in 8 hours.

Harry Iker decides he will do a long walk around a 15km circular walk of 50 geocaches. Mo Tryst decides she will drive from Cache & dash to Cache & dash picking up as many as she can, in that way.

They both drive up to the start of Harry’s walk at exactly 9am on the dot. The first cache of the walk is a cache and dash, so they park up and walk the few yards to the first GZ together (taking 90 seconds to park up and walk to GZ). They hunt for the cache for 3 minutes before finding it, and it then takes them 2 minutes to open the cache, extract the log, sign it, and place it back.

Now they split up. Mo returns to her car (which takes 30 seconds) and sits in the car to figure out where to drive to next (which takes her 2 minutes), then she sets off. Harry only takes 1 minute to figure out where he is walking to next, and then he sets off walking. They then carry on caching, having agreed that they must be back at the end of Harry's 15km loop, back at the first find, before the 8hr deadline of 5pm.

For Both cachers assume the following:
They find 90% of caches, (including that first one), and each cache they find takes on average 3 minutes to find.
They fail to find every tenth cache and waste 15 minutes looking for it.
They take 2 minutes to open each find, sign the log and replace it.
They both have a 14 minute break for lunch after their second DNF.

For Harry assume:
He walks at 4km/hr between caches.
He takes 1 minute after each cache to figure out his route to the next one.

For Mo assume:
She drives an average of 2 miles between caches
She drives at an average speed of 25 mph
It takes her 90 seconds to park up and walk to GZ for each cache
It takes her 30 seconds to walk back to the car after each cache
It takes her 2 minutes to figure out where to drive to next, after each cache.

Finally assume the following:

Arriving back at her car after a find Mo notices it is getting close to 5pm. Mo realises she is 10 minutes drive from the starting point, and does not have time for another cache, so she drives to the start point, taking 10 minutes and arrives a few minutes before 5pm. She has plenty of time to park up and walk the short distance to the agreed end point at the first cache and arrives there before Harry.

Quite a long while before 5pm after logging his latest find Harry caclulates he hasn’t time to collect any more caches. With no need for any more navigation stops he walks the rest of the 15km loop without even pausing for caches at 4km/hr to reach the start just before 5pm.

So who was the winner?

Harry found AB geocaches (not including the 1 in 10 DNFs)

Harry arrived at the end of the loop E.F minutes before 5pm

Mo found CD geocaches (not including the 1 in 10 DNFs)

Mo drives up at the end near the first cache exactly G.H minutes before 5pm. (don't include her last park up and stroll to GZ in this)

Co-ords of this cache and dash are:

There is no need to visit the published co-ordinates.
